Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday # 1

In light of the season I have decided to start doing Thankful Thursday that I found on a great blog (http://truth4thejourney.blogspot.com/)

So What I am thankful for today:

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

1. I am thankful for my husband having to go into work late today. Jason normally works at 7:00a.m. down in East L.A. and gets up reallly early to beat the traffic. I don't normally see him in the mornings except for the quick kiss and goodbye and then I'm Zzzzzzzzz again. But this morning he had to be at work at 9:30 a.m.! i got to wake up next to him! He made me breakfast and then drove me to work! I love and miss mornings like this!

2. I am thankful for Coffee! I haven't been sleeping very good this week due to stress and have been relying heavily on coffee. Thank you coffee!!

3. I am thankful for the College group at Foothill Church. God led Jason and I to our church the very first week that we moved to Southern California and have attended ever since! After a few weeks of attending we heard of a new home group that was forming: College group. We are so thankful to have been with this group from the very beginning. It is so much fun to see the new people that God brings into the group. I love college group and cannot wait until tonight :D

4. I am thankful for the people in my office. They are amazing and it is so refreshing to work in an office full of loving caring Christians. They really are interested in my life and where I am at. They are always there willing to help.

5. I am thankful for wonderful new blogs that I have been discovering that have been a huge inspiration in my life.

Taking the time to stop and thank God is so important in our daily walks. Often when we come to God it's when we need or want something or just need to complain. But God is Good! He is there to lift us up when we are down and to take care of us. I feel so blessed in my life and know that God has been amazing!!! Taking the time to do that is so important! That's why I'm deciding to do Thankful Thursdays!

What are you thankful for?!

My Love Language

I have not written a blog in almost a month! YIKSE! What can I say, it's midterms season!

Anyway I felt it was time to write one and something that has been on my mind lately is gifts. It's that time of year again. And I LOVE it! I absolutely love giving gifts!! I Love seeing that look on the person I love when they often my gift that I spent hours thinking of and then hunting for it and/or making it. Handmade gifts are my FAVORITE! But that's for another day.

My love of gift giving got my thinking about Gary chapman's book "The Five Love Languages". If you have not read it, Go out and buy it NOW! It is fantastic. My hubby and I baught it when we were first dating and I am so thankful that we did. We have read it together a few times since and have even baught it on tape one time when we had to drive up to NorCal (aaag 8+ hours in the car) and wanted something to listen to. It may seem simple but it has really helped us to understand one another.

Before saying any more let me explain the five languages if you havn't read his book:

1. Words of Affirmation: Speaking kind words such as "Honey dinner was great tonight! Thank you" or "Wow! You look stunning!"

2. Quality Time: Spending time together! But that doesn't mean sitting side by side on the couch watching tv. Quality time it time spent with your undivided attention focused on eachother.

3. Gifts: Spending the time to give gifts that are personal and that the person will really love. People who have gifts as their language love recieving them but not for a materialistic benefit but because it shows their spouse (or friends/family) really love them and will take the time to find the perfect gift for them.

4. Acts of Service: Acts of Service doesn't mean the things that are expected to be done. For example taking out the trash is my hubby's job. But when your spouse does something above and beyond or unexpected. Such as suprising you when you come home by having the dishes all done and the house vacummed.

5. Physcial Touch: This one doesn't mean the rated R type of physcial touch. But a loving stroke on the arm, holding hands, or a quick peck on the cheek. People with phycial touch need that affirming touch of their spouse to feel their love.

So where do you fit in? My number one is gifts as I have already stated. I love givin gifts but I also love recieving them! I love knowing that my hubby is thinking of me and takes time out of his very busy day to pick up something for special to me. It's not about how much money he spends but about thinking of me. Jason get's to work before I am even awake in the morning and this morning he left me a note in the kitchen. These are the kinds of things I love, just knowing he's thinking of me.

Jason's love languages are quality time and physical touch. My hubby is very weird (but also cute hehe) in that he LOVES to watch movie trailers and look up movie trivia. Which is fine, that's his hobby. He could spend hours looking this stuff up. And he LOVES sharing it with me, his family, his friends, whoever he can. He loves that quality time spent sharing it with those he loves. He feels connected by sharing. And his other love language is phycial touch. Usually the women in relationships are the cuddelers, but in our case it's him! haha don't get me wrong, I love to cuddle but not nearly as much as he does. He is sooo sweet.

Not only do understanding our love languages help us to understand each other they help us to understand the other special people in our life. For instance, my mom's love language is words of affirmation (as this is the case with many women). You can buy her all the stuff you want but when she really feels love is when you thank her for the wonderful dinner or tell her how great she made the new bathroom look. Everyone is different but it's wonerful to start noticing how different people are. You can really make someone feel loved by taking a few minutes to find out what makes them tick and then to speak their love language to them.

What's your love language?

About Me

Hi :)
I'm Jami and welcome to my Blog!

The first thing you should know about me is that I love Jesus! He is my life and I try everyday to live out my life for Him. It's a tough road to walk and I stumble often but I strive to walk according to His standards.

The second thing you should know is I am deeply madly head over heels in love with my Husband ♥ We got married on May 17, 2009. We are newlyweds and are loving figuring out this thing called life together. He is the most amazing sensetive, caring, godly man I could have ever asked for. He loves watching romantic comedy's, cook's me breakfast (in bed!) and is Always there to listen when I need an ear :) He is my soul mate and I love him ever so much!

The third thing you should know is that I am a craft lady :) I Love love love scrapbooking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, cooking, digital things of all kinds, and soo many more. Blogging is a GREAT creative outlet for me and I love it! I have only been blogging since October 2009 and am already learning much about the wide wide world of blogging!

The fourth thing: I am actively seeking a way to make some extra income. We don't have kids yet but our plan is that once we have our first child I will stay home full time from then on {Lord willing}. So for now while I have the time I am actively seeking ways to figure out how to make a little extra money. I am currently so excited to be playing with Etsy and figuring out how it all works. I would love for you to check out my Etsy site :)
You can find our Etsy site HERE

Other than that I love and adore my family. I have an amazing set of parents and three wonderful little brothers. Yes, I am the only girl! Not only do I have a wondeful family but I love my In-Laws. Really, I do!! My Husband has the most amazing family and between his family and mine we have an extensive family net behind us.

Jason (The Hubby) and I are so blessed! God has been amazing to us and we are excited to see what God has in the future for us.

Things coming up: The Hubby recently graduated with his bachelors degree in Math and graduated in the top 10% of his class!!!  I am so very proud of him!! He is so smart and has been an amazing provider for us and I know when we have a family of our own one day he will be THE best provider. Even before graduating college he got a job that could quickly become his career and we are fairly certain he will be at this job for a long long time. I ♥ Him!
I am graduating from college in May 2011 with a bachelors degree in History and Biblical Studies. And no...I'm not using it right away. Haha I will hopefully be working full time in a secretary position of some sorts until we have children {Lord Willing}.

The last thing I'll share is that I wish I had lived in the 50's. I would have LOVED to be a 50's housewife! I share this with you just to say that is what I aspire to be. I know that is a counter cultural message today but that's okay with me! I want to stay home with our kids (when we have them..in a few more years) and homeschool them. I feel that God is calling me to be the best wife and *future* mother I can be. And the 50's housewife is just the sort I want to be :D
